Soup and Champagne Celebrates Haiti’s Independence and Culture in the City of North Miami Beach

Soup Joumou, a long standing Haitian Kreyol tradition that symbolizes Independence, Freedom and Pride. January 1st of every new year celebrates the Independence of Haiti where a popular delicacy known as “Soup Joumou” is often served. With the backdrop of food and celebration of bubbles, Soup and Champagne will usher in 2023 with the 4th Annual Soup and Champagne All-White Affair event on Sunday, January 1st, 2023 at the Ancient Spanish Monastery, 16711 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach, FL from 7pm to 2am

The annual Soup & Champagne event returns to the Historic Ancient Spanish Monastery in the City of North Miami Beach which has deep ties to Haiti and Haitians in the diaspora. The 12th Century Spanish Style Monastery houses a French bell that was gifted to Haiti in 1805. It was given as a symbol of the Haitian Independence to Jean Jacques Dessalines. This bell and symbol of freedom now hangs in the tower of the Monastery.

The 4th Annual Soup and Champagne All White Affair will start 2023 on a high note with art, food, music and culture for all to share. This year, the freedom delicacy “Soup Joumou” will be prepared by Executive Chef Rachelle Daoud Lexima who blends traditional Haitian cuisine with French, Lebanese and Caribbean undertones. An art unveiling by Haitian visual artist Kervin Andre. Performing live is kompa sensations Kai and Enposib with music by DJ Bullet, Mr. Smoke, DJ Haitian Mike and DJ Bugz. All hosted by Haitian personalities Tico Armand, Wanda of L’union Suite and Carel of Chokarella with a portion of the proceeds to benefit We Reach Foundation.

“Soup and Champagne is more than a party. As a Haitian-American, our goal is to sustain Haitian culture and tradition. We pride ourselves in producing memorable events that have lasting impact, “says Jones Pierre, Soup and Champagne Co-Founder.

Sponsors for the 4th Annual Soup and Champagne All-White Affair include but are not limited to the City of North Miami Beach, North Miami Beach CRA, Spanish Monastery Foundation, FPL, Tito’s Vodka, Grand Dial Champagne, Nozeco, Demesmin and Dover, Executive Tax Software and La Paix Bakery.
